Colorado High School Cycling League CycleFest
Originally posted on April 29, 2010 at 23:06 pmEssentially a fund-raiser for the Colorado High School Cycling League, this event appears to be a hybrid consisting of a stereotypical fundraiser and a bicycle event. Festivities include a gala dinner and a silent auction on Saturday night May 1st at Palettes Restaurant at the Denver Art Museum. On Sunday May 2nd, you get to throw a leg over a road bike and ride with Olympic and World Cup stars Susan DeMattei, Dave Wiens and others in and around Boulder, followed by lunch at the Bacaro Venetian Taverna
In addition to DeMattei and Wiens, other cycling celebrities coming out to support the cause include:
- Jonathan Vaughters of the Garmin-Transitions cycling team
- Mountain bike world champion Ned Overend
- 24-Hour world champion Rebecca Rusch
- Trek rider and Olympian Travis Brown
The Colorado High School Cycling League promotes personal development and teamwork through bicycle racing, and encourages the formation of teams at public and private high schools. With the cooperation of local race promoters and our sponsors, the League organizes a first class series of races designed for high school aged riders. The League makes high school racing the easiest route for juniors to get involved in the challenging and exciting world of competitive cycling.
The Colorado High School Cycling League is a great program, and this event promises to be a great time. CycleFest tickets are $100 (Regular) and $150 (Patron), the latter giving you admission to a special cocktail hour.
