Mountain bikers in the New York/New Jersey area…and beyond…can look forward to another mountain bike celebration this June. The Jersey Off-Road Bicycle Association…better known by the JORBA acronym…is throwing down for the 3rd Annual JORBA Bike Festival – A Celebration of New Jersey Mountain Biking on June 5th, 2010. They’re partnering with mtbNJ and IMBA, and the event will be held at the Waterloo Village Concert Field in Stanhope, New Jersey.

Waterloo Village Concert Field (where I was witness to at least ten amazing concerts back in the mid 1990’s) is a stone’s throw from Interstate 80, and less than an hour from NYC…that means it’s easy to reach. And the riding there is great. The trails in that area are some of the best East Coast riding examples, and they’re also where the 24 Hours of Allamuchy is held each August.

The one-day event features guided rides, a “massive” raffle (which includes four complete bikes), skill clinics, a SwapFest (bring your old parts AND some money), kid’s rides, demo trailers from Jamis, Giant and Trek, other fun activities and…this might be the best part…a demonstration by Pat Povilaitis aka the Human Vise — “The World’s Greatest Steel Bending Strongman.” People who attend are also encouraged to support a “Food Drive” by bringing a canned good or other non-perishable food donation.

This is an awesome event that benefits not only a great organization, but also all mountain bikers in the area. Cruise on over to the JORBA web site for more info and a schedule of events.

Have you attended the JORBA Bike Festival in the past? Better yet…have you personally seen The Human Vice? If so, please give us all the amazing details in the comments area below!
