Mountain Bike Access Threatened in Bitterroot National Forest
Originally posted on October 28, 2009 at 3:13 amThe Bitterroot National Forest is currently taking comments on the proposed Bitterroot Travel Management Plan. This TMP could close many trails currently open to mountain bikes and will determine future mountain bike opportunities in the forest.
The Montana Mountain Bike Alliance urges mountain bikers to submit a personal comment to the Forest Service, and request that the mountain bike restrictions be removed from the TMP’s Recommended Wilderness Areas and tabled for a separate evaluation. Background information and talking points are available via the Montana Mountain Bike Alliance website. Comment deadline is Nov. 5th, 2009. Send your email to [email protected] and type “Travel Planning Project – Comments” in the subject line.
