Dirt Rag 20th Anniversary Party

On April 4th and 5th the Dirt Rag / Bicycle Times staff and friends headed over to Cleveland OH to take a break from work, ride Ray’s Indoor MTB Park, and celebrate the Rag’s 20th anniversary. On one of the first really nice weekends of spring it was hard to be inside riding ramps and wooden features, but one trip around the pump track had my heart racing and my face grinning.

While all of us took turns manning the booth, we found plenty of time to ride the park on our own bikes and on some of Ray’s Superco demo fleet. The super slack head (70°) and seat (71°) tube angles on the Charger model made it a blast to whip around and to lean on it heavily in the corners of the pump track. Our advertising guy Andy even managed to bounce himself lopsided on the table tops, which resulted in a broken helmet and ice pack on his face. We all survived with no real injuries though and made it in one piece to the Dirt Rag after party.

Long time Dirt Rag friends, Elizabeth and Lee Klevens, baked and decorated a cake reminiscent of Dirt Rag #1‘s cover and the vintage T-shirt Lee’s sporting. Very cool, and tasty!

ray-cake.jpgAll of us at Dirt Rag had a great time riding, meeting new people at Ray’s, and celebrating. We like to relax and have fun as much as possible, how can you not when bikes are involved. Which is why we will be having another XX celebratory evening here in Pittsburgh for those that couldn’t make it to Ray’s. Keep an eye on the website for more information about the day of riding and night of arcading.
