Originally posted on March 8, 2009 at 7:34 amDirt Rag and Bicycle Times are headed to Seattle, WA on March 14-15 for the 2009 Seattle International Bicycle Expo. This promises to be an outstanding event with more than 150 exhibits of all things bike, travel and fitness, with something for everyone one and age group lined up.
On display, to name a few, will be a collection of vintage bicycles from the U.S., England, France, and Italy circa 1920-1990, and the Oregon Bicycle Constructors Association, the only frame makers association in the world, will be demonstrating the creative use of materials from bamboo to titanium.
Bob Roll, former professional cyclist, “voice of the Tourâ€, and all-time funny guy, is lined up as a guest speaker on Friday night, the 13th. A separate $20 ticket will be needed for this event. Adventure cyclist Willie Weir will be speaking about his cycling trips through places such as India, Turkey, Columbia, and South Africa.
A kids treasure hunt, bike carnival, and Kidcross will spark the interest of the younger generations and hopefully get them hooked on cycling.
This event is open to the public and adult mission is $8 for a one-day pass or $10 for a two day. Kids under 15-years-old get in free. For a complete list of exhibitors, features, and guests visit www.cascade.org.
