On the rise: Winter racing
Originally posted on February 8, 2008 at 21:31 pmYesterday, I was sort of kidding about winter riding — how it’s difficult and dangerous, and strictly for the obsessive cyclist.
Today, I was reminded by several readers that riding in snow and ice can be a blast, especially if you’re a racer in a budding winter race scene. There’s the Arrowhead 135, up in Northern Minnesota. There’s the Iditarod in Alaska. And now the good people of Leadville, Colorado have turned a winter novelty ride into a whole race series.
What have you done to convince your crew to keep the wheels spinning through the coldest, snowiest months?
