Canadian bikes: strong and (almost) free

Those clever Canadians. Not only do our friends in the True North have socialized medicine; they also have socialized bicycle riding. Yesterday, provincial leaders in Toronto announced that any new bike priced under $1000 will be available tax free in Ontario.

British Columbia has already eliminated retail taxes on all bikes and bike accessories, and Alberta gives its citizens $300 toward the purchase of a new bike if they trade in their used cars.

Oh, Canada. We stand on our pedals for thee.
