Race Face announces today its new Æffect R crankset, dropper post and lever. The crankset is designed to keep an enduro-strength crank in the weight-range of a typical XC crank (632 g for DM alloy without bottom bracket, or 696 g for DM steel without bottom bracket). It uses forged 7050 AL construction added stiffness without extra weight. The Æffect R features the Race Face Cinch System for plenty of spider options. Plus, in addition to being available in typical 170 mm and 175 mm crankarm lengths, the Æffect R also comes in 165 mm. Race Face’s listed price is $130.
The moderately-priced Æffect R dropper post comes in 100 mm, 125 mm and 170 mm lengths. It’s cable-actuated with a hydraulic cartridge, so it should have smooth movement and reliability that’s still highly serviceable. The main new point of interest is the new DU Bushing in the upper nut and increased upper tube diameter that Race Face claims improves stiffness and durability. The listed price is $200 without the lever. The lever, which is also compatible with the Turbine R dropper post, is $40.
