Kona adds Canadian legend Miranda Miller to team

Miranda Miller will headline Kona’s Global Enduro program alongside Rhys Verner, Connor Fearon, Shelly Flood, and Hannah Bergemann. She’ll be racing the Process 153 CR DL 29 and the Operator CR for select downhill races.

While her official joining of the team is breaking news, her relationship with Kona isn’t. Team Manager Mathieu Dupelle has been in her life for ten years, offering shelter, rides, and parts as a privateer “back in the day.” She seems stoked to move a bit away from a strict DH schedule and embrace the Enduro World Series (EWS).

“EWS is a new challenge for me,” Miller says in an interview she did for Kona. “I’ve done events before but never with a commitment to a season, it was always a sideshow to DH. Although EWS is physically tough, you don’t have the high speeds and hard compressions that DH does. When you’re struggling and not mentally 100% into a World Cup DH run it’s impossible to perform and more dangerous.”

I love this video. Miller’s line picks, flow, speed, and playfulness on the bike are of course inspiring, like watching any pro, but they’re also just plain fun to watch. It makes me want to ride my bike, get splashy, and also see if Miranda wants to like grab a sandwich or something afterward.

“I love riding my trail bike, I also like exercising and I like the part of EWS where no one knows what’s going to happen!” Miller says. “Let us all just go do something different and something that we’re maybe not as comfortable with. Or did I just read that on a Lululemon bag?”

I don’t know about the Lululemon bag (do they make bags?) but it’s definitely a sentiment we can get behind. Grab a bike and a buddy, head into the woods and get a little weird, maybe a little scared, make a funny face and have fun!
