Sea Otter 2018: 30th anniversary Honzo ST and a slew of new bikes

Kona is turning 30. Instead of coming out with a crazy version of one of its carbon bikes, the Honzo ST gets the nod as the bike to celebrate three decades of bike making.

It was hard to capture the magic in this paint job. Kona says it is similar to a fancy Lamborghini paint option, but I am seeing a throw back to the black chrome Schwinn used in the 80s. This is a complete bike with SRAM NX drivetrain, Level brakes and a Revelation fork.

Price is $2299, but all 201 are sold to dealers (including 26 just in New Zealand). Better get on the horn to your Kona dealer if you want one.

Also on display were a few bikes that are just about to hit the market.

The carbon Process 153 29 CR  isn’t a huge surprise to anyone paying attention.

There is a new Operator Carbon. Kona has never been much on adjustable geometry or flip chips, but this guy has a ton of options, mostly to allow Kona’s Connor Fearon to run 29 or 27.5 wheels in the same frame for World Cup racing.

The odd-looking headtube can adjust the reach.

The HeiHei Trail brings is 140 mm of 27.5 goodness to an aluminum frame and lower price points. This is a good thing, as this seems to be on of the most universally loved bikes on the market right now.

Big Honzo CR is a carbon version of the well-loved 27plus Big Honzo

Like a forged chainstay yoke, but in carbon and not forged. It does have a sweet metal chain protection plate though.
The extra cable stop is for moto-style brake setups.
