Salsa launches new gravel platform, the Journeyman
Originally posted on March 16, 2018 at 10:51 amToday at Land Run 100, Salsa is launching a new gravel/all-road bike known as the Journeyman. With a significantly lower price point than the brand’s other bikes in that category, this model seeks to reach new audiences, continuing Salsa’s recent goal of providing more affordable entry points to the sport of cycling.
The Journeyman will be available with either 27.5 or 700c wheels and with either drop or flat bars. The frame will fit a 27.5 x 2.2 inch or 700c x 50 mm tire and features top tube bag mounts, three water bottle mounts, rack and fender mounts and a fork crown light mount for all the accoutrements.
The Journeyman comes it at two different price points. $1099 will get you a Shimano Sora 9-speed drivetrain with an 11-34t cassette and FSA Vera Pro Adventure 46/30t cranks and a carbon fork. The Sora is offered in either wheel size configuration but only with drop bars. At $899, the Journeyman Claris comes with a Shimano Claris 8-speed drivetrain (11-34t), FSA Tempo Adventure 46/30t cranks and an aluminum fork. The Claris comes with either 700c or 27.5 wheels and either drop or flat bars, with geometry adjusted for each.
All models come with Salsa cockpit items, Promax brakes, Formula hubs, WTB rims and either WTB Riddler 700 x 37mm Comp or WTB Nano 27.5 x 2.1″ Comp tires.
