Celebrate Global Fat Bike Day this Saturday, December 2

Global Fat Bike Day (GFBD) was started in 2012 as a grassroots movement in the UK. As fat bikes gained in popularity, a couple of dudes dreamed of getting a bunch of like-minded fat enthusiasts together for a big group ride. But said enthusiasts were scattered all over the globe, brought together by forums like fat-bike.com. How could they all ride together when they were on different continents?

The brilliant idea of GFBD emerged. Fat bikers all over the world would organize their own group rides (or go ride alone) on a particular day, then document and share their experiences online. Global Fat Bike Day has exploded, and now trail groups and friends with fatties in many towns and regions across the country and world are hosting GFBD events, from races to rides to festivals.

Headed out for a ride on your fat bike this weekend? Share your adventure using the hashtag #GFBD2017.

I’ll be headed to Ebensburg, Pennsylvania for an event hosted by Pour on Center on the Ghost Town Trail. We’ll ride bikes on the rail trail and then gather at the pub after for beers, bourbon, food and camaraderie. Should be a good time!

Is your club or group hosting a Global Fat Bike Day event? Tell us about it in the comments!
