Anne-Caroline Chausson Returns to Commencal

She’ll still be riding, but as she puts it, now she “just wants to have fun and share her passion with as many people as possible.”

Anne-Caroline Chausson, aka Anne-Caro, or simply ACC, has been racing mountain bikes, and winning, since the early-90s. Amongst her list of awards are 19 World Championship wins, several World Cup and Enduro World Series wins, and an Olympic Gold Medal thrown in there for good measure. This past August (in Dirt Rag issue #193), we published an interview (read it here) with Anne-Caro, in which she chatted about her battle with ovarian cancer, and her plans to briefly return to racing. In that interview, she alluded to retirement, but only after she successfully completed another race, a goal she set for herself to keep her motivated when she was sick. She returned to the Enduro World Series for the second half of the season this past fall, and announced retirement after the first day of the finale. She’d pushed her body hard, and it was time to step back.

But while she may have retired from elite racing, she’s certainly not retiring from the bike industry. She just announced that she will be leaving Ibis Cycles as a racer and returning to Commencal as an ambassador and product consultant and developer. The company is thrilled to have her back on board (Anne-Caro raced for Commencal in the mid-2000s), and excited about the possibilities this new partnership will bring.

In her interview with Dirt Rag last summer, she mentioned that she wanted to get involved with the sport in ways other than racing. It’s good to see she’s doing that. Best of luck in this new adventure, Anne-Caro!
