Vittoria had some first look surprises on the first day of the 2016 Sea Otter Classic. Besides new tires, the brand is jumping into rims with both feet.

The Reaxcion SL 29 is an impressively light 1,430 gram aluminum wheelset directed at the cross-country market. It’s tubeless ready and features Speedlock sidewalls, which is an asymmetrical bead lock that allows for easy tubeless installation with just a standard floor pump.

For you gravel and ‘cross riders, Vittoria also has deep dish carbon rims coming down the pike which we’ll be testing soon. Available in clincher or tubular they are disc brake specific with thru-axle or standard QR options as well as Shimano or SRAM 1x freehubs.

There is also a new 27plus Deamion rim with a 40 mm internal width, Boost spacing and tubeless ready bead walls. The rim shown here is with the new 27plus Cannoli tire. It comes in a 27.5×3 inch width with dual compound tread, TNT sidewalls and is tubeless ready. Meant for soft snow or sandy terrain, the tread is designed to purge dirt (or snow) out the sides for superior traction.

On the tire side there’s a new Martello DH/enduro tire called the Martello which already has some world class enduro wins to it’s credit. It has progressive siping on the knobs throughout, and the leading edge on the center knobs are ramped smaller in the front to taller in the back and the side knobs ramped lower on the outside to taller on the inside to maximize speed, traction and long-term wear.
