Underway this week the Inca Avalanche Trail Fest has returned to the Sacred Valley of the Inca and Ollantaytambo, Peru. The festival features five days of riding on the best descents in the area, evening cocktail parties, Inca sites and cultural experienced you just don’t get anywhere else. The week is capped off by the Inca Avalanche race itself.

The Inca Avalanche is two days of mass start racing from 16,000 feet at the base of the Veronica glacier to the valley floor, nearly 6,000 feet below. If that wasn’t enough to blow your mind, the race ends in a party that spills over into the awards ceremony and jump jam, that then spills into an after party. This is the kind of full throttle vacation you need a week to recover from. But you’ll never regret going so hard, as the week offers almost 70,000 feet of descending!

Dirt Rag visited the Inca Avalanche in 2014 and it was a trip we’ll never forget. We captured some of our experiences in this video and you can read all about it in Issue #173.
