Transition debuts new kids-sized full-suspension model
Originally posted on May 11, 2015 at 10:46 amMountain biking has become a family sport, and so far this has been a breakout year for high-quality kids bikes that are just as capable as many full-size bikes. Everyone knows kids learn quickly and if they want to progress their skills they need quality gear.
The new Transition Ripcord has 100mm of travel through a standard 26-inch fork and a straightforward single pivot rear suspension with a standard-sized shock, meaning both shock and fork can be easily upgraded down the road. The 24-inch wheels keep the center of gravity low and help it fit a larger variety of kids and the Shimano hydraulic brakes will help reign things in when they get moving too fast. The SRAM 9-speed drivetrain has 165mm crankarms and an e-thirteen chainguide for simplicity and durability.
An all-around trail bike, it has a 67 degree head tube angle and 381mm chainstays and Transition says it’s built for everything from cross-country adventures to light-duty park riding. Not some kids toy, this is a fully-capable bike that comes with a “real bike” price too: $1,699.
