Shimano unveils 25th Anniversary SPD shoes and pedals
Originally posted on January 23, 2015 at 19:14 pmThere are few products in mountain bike history as transformative as the Shimano SPD pedal system. In 1990 the very concept of clipless pedals was still new to cycling and most mountain bikers were still using hiking boots and flat pedals. While mountain bikes, shoes and pedals have transformed radically around it in the past quarter-century, the SPD cleat has remained largely unchanged, a testament to how well it was designed.
Now, to celebrate the 25th Anniversary of the SPD cleat, shoe and pedal, Shimano is unveiling a special, limited-edition shoe and pedal set to commemorate it. In homage to the M737 pedal and M100 shoes, the new set includes special editions of the dual-sided PD-M530C trail and cross-country pedal and the trail/enduro SH-M163G shoes.
The shoes and pedals will sell as a commemorative set for $205, and you can expect them to be available later this spring.
