Marin Museum of Bicycling to construct Mt. Tam Legacy Wall

The Marin Museum of Bicycling recently announced it would begin construction on the Mt. Tamalpais Legacy Wall in Fairfax, California, that will be fitted with brick titles funded by museum donors. The public can purchase bricks and help fund the museum, the future home of the Igler Collection and the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame.

The four-foot-high 35-foot-long wall at the corner of Sir Francis Drake Blvd. and Claus Drive in downtown Fairfax is shaped in the profile of the legendary Mt. Tamalpais, the birthplace of mountain biking.

Museum supporters can sponsor tiles which can be engraved with their own message or logo in three sizes: 4 by 8 inches ($250), 8 by 8 inches ($500) and 12 by 12 inches ($1,000). They can be purchased online or by picking up a form at the future home of the museum at 1966 Sir Francis Drake Blvd. Individual donations and corporate sponsorships are also welcome.

The Marin Museum of Bicycling is a bicycle history museum and cultural center now under construction and slated to open this summer. On display will be bicycles representing the extraordinary history of the world’s most efficient (and fun) vehicle, from the 1860s to the present.

The museum’s permanent display will include the Igler Collection of 19th Century bicycles and the Mountain Bike Hall of Fame. Temporary exhibits focused on specific aspects of cycling will be displayed on a rotating basis.
