Guerrilla Gravity unveils second bike, the Megatrail
Originally posted on March 28, 2014 at 9:08 amGuerrilla Gravity is a small, consumer-direct brand that launched last year with its made-in-Colorado GG/DH downhill bike. Now it’s taking pre-orders for its next machine, the Megatrail.
While the Megatrail looks to be a fully capable bike in standard mode, a 30-second shock mount swap turns it into a much more dynamic descender. The standard mode features 150mm of travel and a 66.5 degree head tube angle while the Gravity mode bumps it to 160mm of travel and a 65.5 degree head tube angle. The bottom bracket also drops to 12.7 inches, which matches Guerrilla Gravity’s GG/DH downhill bike and is meant to feel like a mini-DH bike. The suspension was developed in partnership with Cane Creek to perfectly match the Double Barrel Air CS air shock.
As a small brand building bikes in Colorado, Guerrilla Gravity is able to work with customers to customize build kits, wheel size and more. The front and rear triangles are available in versions optimized for 26 or 27.5 inch wheels, allowing you to even run a mix if so desired.
Claimed frame weight is 7 pounds with hardware and no shock, and starts at $1,925. Complete bikes start at $3,495, which is a screaming deal for a bike made in America. There are three sizes offered: Small, Medium and Large. There are two “enduro” and two “trail” build kits, but those are really just a starting point, as each is fully customizable, including wheel size and Guerrilla Gravity’s own 42-tooth BFC adapter cog, also made in Colorado. Customers can also choose from 10 powder coat colors.
Each bike comes with Guerrilla Gravity’s GG Rider Program, which earns customers a 15 percent discount on gear in its retail shop, discounted access to ride and maintenance clinics, a referral bonus for helping spread the word, and more. Pre-orders are available now, and bikes and frames will be delivered in the order the $295 deposits are received. Look for the first deliveries in mid to late May.
