On Friday, March 21 you can bid farewell to the offseason and say hello to the 3rd annual Tuscarora Offroad Weekend. Fast Forward Racing Productions is offering up a weekend full of fun starting Friday afternoon with course inspection and group camping.

Saturday will be jam packed with single track goodness, starting with a fundraiser ride benefiting local trail projects and followed by a rippin’ fast Super D race in the afternoon. Then you can kick off the 2014 Mid Atlantic Super Series-endurance series on Sunday with the main event, a four hour XC Marathon.

If you’ve never been to this hidden Pennsylvania hollow, you can expect plenty of rocks and primitive trails linking Tuscarora State Forest to Fowlers Hollow State Park. A March 8-9 trail work weekend will see a focus on some of the local trails, bringing them a touch of modern trail design to prepare for the third year of the race.

New for 2014, a Beginner category in the XC Marathon will allow new riders and beginner racers to race one lap of the 6.2 mile course in their own group instead of the full four hours. This will also be the last year of racing on the current course as planning has begun on a brand new XC Marathon course for 2015.

The first 50 registrants for the weekend get a custom growler. Races are limited to 100 participants for the Super-D and 150 participants for the XC Marathon, so register now. You can also sign up for free camping and volunteer positions during the weekend at the same time, helping to make the weekend an even better experience for the competitors.

Last year saw top endurance racers like Jeremiah Bishop (Cannondale-ShoAir), Rob Spreng (Team CF), Brandon Draugelis, and Gerry Pflug fighting for the top honors in the Mens XC Marathon. Susan Haywood (StansNoTubes) ran away with the women’s win in both the Super D and XC Marathon. “I love a good two bike weekend,” she said.
