Santa Cruz unveils new 27.5 Solo trail bike in Scotland

The folks at Santa Cruz Bicycles know how to throw a party. Partnering with TweedLove, the UK’s largest cycling festival, they gathered in Peebles, in the Scottish Borders, to unveil the new 27.5 Solo with some limited edition whisky and local legend Steve Peat. 

A "little brother" to the Bronson and a spiritual cousin to the beloved Blur TR, the Solo pairs 27.5-inch wheels with 125mm of VPP travel in a low, slack package. Both carbon and aluminum versions will be available, with carbon frames shipping now and alloy to follow in July. Complete bikes with the carbon frame start at $4,199 while alloy frames are $1,925 with complete bikes starting at $3,399. 

The geometry shares the Blur TR’s 68-degree head tube angle and a low 13.15 bottom bracket height. Alloy and carbon frames share the same geometry. The 17.12-inch chainstays are a touch shorter than the Bronson’s. 

For Saturday’s race, the Glentress 7, the Santa Cruz crew got a little creative with the decals on the ENVE carbon wheels.
