Sea Otter Report: Raleigh Cyclocross

Raleigh has been into the cross scene for quite a while, pushing both serious racing and fun with the Hodala single speed team and the Raleigh/Clement race team.

It has a few new carbon and aluminum bikes for 2014, and they should be available to race this fall. Here is a sampling of the line up.

This is the top of the line RXC Pro Disc carbon fiber race bike. Notice the ENVE fork, American Classic wheelset and fancy Di2 Ultegra shifting bits, all proven on the race course. Claimed weight is less than 20 pounds and price is $5,000.

There is also a 105 level carbon bike, the RXC Disc, at $2,700. 

Next up, the RX 2.0. This looks to be a great double duty bike. Light enough to race on the weekends, versatile enough to commute during the week. The newly designed Raleigh carbon fork and aluminum frame are equipped with rack and fender mounts. The Hayes cable disc brakes, Shimano 105 drivetrain, very well spec’d for the $1,750 asking price.

Finally, RX 1.0. This is the women’s specific version, and I think a lot of ladies will be stoked on the racy (as in fast, not risqué) paint job (or colorway if you want to be annoying). This bike gets SRAM Apex for the drivetrain and canti brakes. The womens model has narrower handlebars, and a shorter headtube and top tube than the men’s model. I didn’t get a shot of the men’s bike but I think the ladies’ is better looking. Price is $1,550 for either bike.
