Specialized unveils its first women’s full-suspension 29er

News landed in our inbox today of a new full-suspension 29er from Specialized designed specifically for women. The Rumor uses Specialized’s M5 alloy frame with 110mm of travel front and rear with a tapered head tube, internal cable routing, a super low standover height and somehow still manages to fit a water bottle. In a size small, the standover is just 706mm.

Because the Rumor was designed from the group up for women as small as 5 feet tall, it combines Specialized’s popular AutoSag feature with a custom-tuned spring rate for female riders.

Specialized’s Body Geometry group was involved in outfitting the Rumor with women’s specific features such as the Jett saddle, smaller diameter grips and shorter crank arms to enable a perfect fit.

There will be three models available at launch:

Rumor Expert

  • Fox Float CTD Evolution shock
  • Fox Float CTD Performance fork
  • Specialized Command Post dropper

Rumor Comp

  • RockShox Monarch RL shock with AutoSag
  • RockShox Reba RL fork
  • SRAM S1250 double crankset

Rumor

  • X-Fusion RL shock
  • SR SunTour XCR fork
  • Tektro Draco 2 hydraulic disc brakes
