We’ve tested a few pairs of Teva shoes for flat pedals, and all of them have won us over with a high level of comfort and performance, both on and off the bike. At Interbike last fall, Teva showed off a pair of prototype Pivot clipless shoes that looked like just thing for trail riders hooked on clipless, but not the standard three strap shoes that usually goes along with the pedals.

Now the Pivot is now in production, and should be ready for sale in July. Price is set at $150. Two colors will be available with a simple lace and stap closure. The outers are treated with Ion-Mask, that prevent the shoes from absorbing water, a feature carried over from the flat pedal Links shoe. The sole was designed specifically with the new Crankbrothers DH pedals, but will work fine with just about any mountain bike pedal on the market.

The sole had deep chevrons front and rear for scrambling up or down hills, and the stiff shank provides pedaling support without being uncomfortable for waking.

Teva also designed a system that allows users the option to run the cleat bolts from inside the shoe, and includes a t-handle wrench that reaches though a covered hole in the tongue to adjust the position while the shoes are clipped into the pedals. This also prevents the bolt heads from becoming roached out after a few months of being exposed to all kinds of rocks, mud and general crappy conditions.
