Singletrack High shows to national audience at Sea Otter Classic
Originally posted on April 18, 2013 at 11:32 amSingletrack High, a documentary showcasing the positive impacts of the high school mountain biking movement, will be screened Saturday at the Sea Otter Classic, after multiple sold-out screenings on the first leg of it’s coast-to-coast tour.
Taking a close look at the National Interscholastic Cycling Association’s (NICA) NorCal High School Cycling League, the documentary follows a diverse group of high school students through the 2012 high school mountain bike racing season. The film explores the wide range of positive outcomes from keeping adolescents active on bikes at an age when many are “trading in two wheels for four,” as one of the subjects puts it.
Singletrack High will show at the Golden State Theater in Monterey, Calif., on April 20 at 7:30 PM. This special screening will introduce Sea Otter racers, fans and bike industry members to the next generation of cyclists, their families, coaches, and the fast-growing national high school mountain biking movement.
The screening will be followed by a VIP Reception at the theater with student-athletes from the film and luminaries of the sport including Ned Overend, Gary Fisher, Lea Davison, Jeremiah Bishop as well as many others.
Singletrack High was produced by Pedal Born Pictures with generous funding from Specialized Bicycle Components, a long-time believer in and supporter of the high school mountain biking movement. Additional production support was provided by GoPro and Sunnyvale VW.
