Hermosa Tours launches Enduro Trips in Colo.

Our friends over at Hermosa Tours announced today a new trip offering beginning in Summer 2013: Monster Enduro Weekends: Durango & Telluride. These self-guided trips will take place over three days in Southwest Colorado, as Hermosa shuttles riders thousands of feet into the San Juan Mountains for some of the biggest rides anywhere totaling nearly 15,000 feet of descending over the three days.

Hermosa Tours Founder Matt McFee says this sort of offering is missing from the American mountain bike tour market. “It’s no secret enduro-style events are gaining immense popularity,” said McFee. “We feel the same demand exists for a non-competitive, enduro-style, recreational tour. Similar to the growth of ski-area bike parks, we wanted to push the envelope and deliver a truly advanced mountain bike experience.”

This new offering follows in the footsteps of Hermosa Tours’ unique “self-guided” tour concept. Riders guide themselves, buy and cook their own food, and generally create their own experience. Hermosa Tours fills in the key logistics like transportation, camp equipment, and route design.

The San Juan Mountains in Southwest Colorado are some of the most beautiful and rugged peaks anywhere, and for mountain bikers, Durango and Telluride represent the two most amazing base camps for great riding.

The trip was created for those who don’t want a guide, don’t want to be supported during the week, and generally just want their own self-serve adventure with a bit of assistance with logistics. Each day Hermosa relocates a very deluxe camp setup (provided by Ready Camp) of two 10×10 canopies, a full kitchen, dry firewood, camp chairs, fresh water, coolers of food and beverages (provided by the riders) and all personal gear like tents, bags and clothing.
