Registration open for King of the Mountain Enduro in NJ

Registration for the upcoming King of the Mountain All-Mountain Enduro race on September 29th and 30th is now open. The King of the Mountain at Mountain Creek Bike Park in Vernon N.J.—just an hour north of New York City—promises to be a classic enduro much in the style of the original gravity-focused enduros made popular in Europe.

Racers will have two formats to choose from, a single day Lite Enduro and the 2-day King of the Mountain competition. The Lite Enduro race will take place on Saturday only and is open to amateurs and those new to racing who are looking to get the “Enduro Experience”. It will consist of three timed “special stages” and two bonus point challenges.

The Pro/Open King of the Mountain race will be contested over two days, starting with the Lite Enduro course on Saturday and adding two additional timed special stages and a third bonus challenge on Sunday.

The resort has partnered with Teva/Shimano rider and N.J. local, Jeff Lenosky to assist in the event production and course design.

To add to the excitement and to prevent any unfair advantages in training, Mountain Creek will not be releasing course maps and profiles until the week of the race. Racers should expect courses that will utilize all the great technical terrain that Mountain Creek has to offer from the existing downhill trails, to the resort’s new cross-country trails, and even some new terrain previously not used for biking. Racers should also expect that the timed stages may include up to 20 percent climbing with more significant climbing on the transport stages. Racers will need to choose their bikes wisely. As in true enduro format, racers will need to complete the entire race on the same bike.
