New Gear: Crank Bros. Iodine 29er wheelset

Originally posted on August 6, 2012 at 12:30 pm

Crank Bros. didn’t just scale up its popular and eye-catching Iodine wheels when they decided to build a 29er version, they went back to the drawing board and built a whole new wheel with a redesigned rim profile.

The new rims are designed for aggressive trail or all-mountain riding, built around 100-130mm forks. The hubs are convertible to all the popular standards. The spokes use Crank Bros. same paired lacing, with 24 spokes per wheel. The rims also have no spoke holes in the tire bed, so they are super-simple to set up tubeless.

We just got a pair of these wheels in for a long term review, so keep an eye out in a future issue.
