Riding bikes is pretty awesome, particularly if you are like me and like to ride all kinds of bikes on all kinds of terrain. I’m looking forward to a few things in particular for 2012. Maybe you’ll be interested to hear about them? Maybe not. Regardless here they are, in no particular order:

Trans-Sylvania Epic: May 27-June 2. Seven days of racing in central Pennsylvania. I’ll be racing solo, I’ve been looking forward to another stage race since my experience at the BC Bike Race a few years ago. Close enough to home my family might be able to come out for a day or two. Dirt Rag is a major sponsor this year and we will have tons over coverage. If you want to join in on the fun, sign up for yourself at TSEpic.com.

Lenz Sport PBJ: PBJ + Park Bike Jam. 180mm of travel, 29” wheels, slaaaack angles. Made to go downhill in a hurry. Yes, thank you. All the more reason to spend more time at Seven Springs and Snowshoe resorts. Here is a video of thre PBJ’s in action.

Specialized Stumpjumper EVO 26” vs 29” comparo: Our newest hire, Jon Pratt and myself have been tasked with sharing review duties on a pair of Stumpjumper FSR EVO models. Not only am I looking forward to riding both bikes (I’ve been only been on the 26” model so far) I’m looking forward to writing the review in tandem with Jon. I think it is going to be quite interesting.

Hilly Billy Roubaix: June 23. I had a great day doing this in 2011, even arriving late, starting dead last, flatting 5 times, bringing a junk CO2 inflator, losing my back up pump and needing to beg a patch kit from passing riders. I felt strong, rode all kinds of stuff on skinny tires and finished after being very close to throwing in the towel. Lots of pictures here. Photos by Fred Jordan.

Other things I’d like to do this year: another trip to British Columbia, Allegheny Mountains Loop, another 100 mile mountain bike race. And lots of riding with my kids, maybe one of the local crits, and some bikepacking trips. Looking like another full year.

Whatcha got planned for yerself?
