As mountain bike component standards inevitably evolve, it comes as no surprise that builders would begin incorporating new technologies into their products. Mike Ahrens of Ahrens Cycles blogged this week about developing a hooded fork dropout for 15mm QR.

Ahren is working with Paragon Machine Works and Rick Hunter of Hunter Cycles to refine the design. The hooded shape allows it to be easily adapted to 26-inch, 650b and 29-inch wheel sizes.

It wouldn’t be the first 15mm QR rigid fork; Niner offers its carbon RDO fork with this setup.
