Interbike 2011: Pivot’s Updated Mach 429

Originally launched in 2008, Pivot’s Mach 429 stormed onto the scene just prior to the widespread acceptance of some of today’s standards. For delivery later this year, Pivot has revised the 429 to include a tapered headtube and a 142x12mm rear dropout.

The front triangle benefits from new top and downtubes, while the rear swingarm sees revised uprights—both are evolutions of the designs used on the Mach 5.7 launched last year. Headtube angle has been slackened slightly as well for touch more stability.

All told, the sum of these changes are said to add up to a stiffer and slacker 429, carrying half a pound less weight.
