Charge LR

Camelbak is introducing a new mountain bike-specific lumbar pack, similar to the Octane LR the company introduced last year. The Octane LR was designed with trail running and short adventure races in mind, though it has gained a following with mountain bikers, myself included. Keep an eye out for our review of the Octane LR in issue #158.

The Charge LR takes the basic design of the Octane pack—bladder positioned low and around the hips, gear on top and stash pockets on the waist belt—and adds a padded back panels for comfort, a top-routed drinking hose, and increased cargo capacity. The Charge LR also has hip-mounted cinch straps around to keep the pack snug as you drain the 2L/70oz bladder. The Charge LR retails for $100.

Agent

The $150 Agent is designed with all-day riding in mind for those who like to earn their turns. The pack has a 3L/100oz bladder, plenty of storage space (11 liters), an internal fleece lined pocket for goggles, a shoulder-mounted pocket for a smartphone or camera, and the ability to strap body armor and a full-face helmet to the exterior.

Asset

The $115 Asset is a more of a park/shuttle style pack with less cargo capacity (8.5 liters) and a 2L/70oz bladder. Both packs come in orange, purple and the always popular and black.

Both the Agent and Asset come with insulated hoses. They also feature full-length zippered access to the main compartment, providing easy access to all your tools and gear. The Asset retails for

Mule

No, that’s not a burrito strapped to his back. It’s the popular Mule, now available in a shiny silver fabric. The color os dubbed "Tin Man" and is sure to be a favorite with riders who enjoy pretending to be astronauts and those who like shiny things. The Mule retails for $100.
