Sea Otter Tech: Fox Racing Shox

Old-school meets new-school at Fox Racing Shox and their booth featured a fully equipped arcade. The Pac-Man game these guys are playing is probably older than the players!

 

We spied this prototype titanium crown at Interbike 2010. For 2012 Fox will offer an investment-cast, one-piece titanium steerer and crown option on their highest-end 26-inch 32 series forks. Weights reportedly start at 2.9lbs. with an uncut steerer.

Kashima coating moves backwards. To the back of the bike that is… Fox Racing’s stiction-reducing surface treatment will be available on rear shocks. Note the remote-operated version on the right, the RP2 Remote.

For 2012 the venerable RP23 gets a facelift. Fox calls the system "Adaptive Logic Platform." The two position lever provides a very high, almost locked-out, level of compression damping when flipped next to the air valve and three ascending levels of ProPedal in the other position.

The fork many long-travel 29er riders have been searching for. Meet the Fox 34 series. Designed just for Fox 29" forks, the 34mm stanchions will be available on longer travel models up to 140mm.

Another friction-fighting feature for 2012 is SKF seals. SKF wiper seals are very popular in the off-road and motocross industries. With Fox’s background in both fields it comes as no surprise they will be using them on their mountain bike forks. The new version is on the left, the previous seal is on the right.
