It’s no secret there’s always been a strong correlation between mountain biking and music. Motivation sometimes flows through the iPod while you push through that lonely 3:00 am lap in a 24-hour race. We also often find ourselves choosing just the right music for pre- and post-ride mood-setting.

Various mountain bike festivals over the years have featured live music, but some wise people in Idaho are taking the link between mountain bikes and music to the next level. The First Annual Sun Valley Rhythm & Ride: Bike and Music Festival, will take place June 24-27, 2010 in Sun Valley, Idaho.

Sun Valley is widely known as a skier’s paradise in the winter, but it’s also the home to more than 700 kilometers of singletrack! That’s right…435 miles of singletrack!

In addition to the insanely great riding, you can look forward to a family concert and a Music Festival on Saturday. Other events planned for Sun Valley Rhythm & Ride include:

  • Ketchum Cruiser Criterium
  • Sheep Town Fat Tire Rally
  • Sawtooth Century Bicycle Tour
  • First Annual Idaho Pump Track State Championships
  • Dollar Mountain 10K Trail Run

That’s some serious fun for the whole family, and I expect this event to grow by leaps and bounds over the years. More information is available here.
