If you’re like me, you’re beginning to get the itch to try new events in places that are off the beaten singletrack. Call it the “Eternal Summer” impulse. It strikes after you have every inch of every local trail memorized. And after you’ve collected enough of the same race numbers to turn your garage into a tinderbox.

Poland, for example, holds a MTB stage race at the end of July that riders compare favorably to the TransAlp and the TransRockies. The “Mountain Bike Challenge” climbs 14,000 meters in 500 kilometers and 8 stages.

It may not be a destination with the glamour of Leadville or Chamonix, but think of the beer and sausage!
