This is Turner’s first foray into carbon frames, and the Czar does not look like a product hurried to market. The Czar is a XC 29er race bike, but is designed to handle trails more burly than the average cross-country race course.
“We’re going to place the carbon bikes in our line where we feel they’re most advantageous to the type of rider they’re aimed at,” says Turner Bicycles’ founder David Turner. “We’re going to look at those people who are hyper conscious about saving every gram they can.”
The signature Turner touches are still present, with dw-link suspension, journal bearings, and Zerk grease fittings. The rear end is set at 100mm of travel, and matched to a 100mm fork, head angle is a quick 69.8-degrees. Chainstays are 17.4-inches and the seatpost is a dropper friendly 30.9mm.
Most of the demo bikes where set up with XX1, but David Turner’s bike was on hand, with a triple up front. The cable routing for both bikes was super clean, using bolt on guides that could easily adapter to any derailleur and dropper post set up.
