World-class mountain bike school coming to Pennsylvania

This coming March, on Easter weekend, riders will gather in the woods of Eastern Pennsylvania’s Camp Thompson YMCA Summer Camp in Pine Grove Furnace, to learn and improve their mountain bike skills as some of the best riders on the east coast share their knowledge over the course of two and a half days. Formerly called the “Mid-Atlantic Cycling Development Camp” (abbreviated MACDC for short), the new Michaux MTB School will focus on skill development for intermediate level athletes.

During the Michaux MTB School, riders will spend two full days (and one optional night) on the trails learning new skills and reinforcing old ones. It’s a rare opportunity to session your biggest trail obstacles—giant logs, slick roots, rock gardens, tricky corners, and off-camber trails—under the guidance of skilled instructors. Groups will be exposed to great insight from the coaches, and will then break into smaller groups for some individualized feedback along the way. Women will be happy to find they get a group all their own, completely separate from the boys, with women-specific coaching.

Michaux MTB School boasts some of the best names in Mid-Atlantic, East Coast, and the sport in general on its coaching staff. Heading up the men’s side of the school is racing great, Jeremiah Bishop, right, the front man for team Cannondale-ShoAir. Leading the women’s school is racing legend Susan Haywood, a shining example of what women can accomplish on a mountain bike. With Take Aim Cycling’s Harlan Price and multi-time NUE champion Cheryl Sornson of Team CF providing additional coaching this will be an information packed weekend.
